What I Offer

  • I operate Genuine on a mission to give families a solid foundation built on mutual trust and respect. Toward that aim, I offer, at no cost to you, a complimentary introduction consisting of one phone call consultation + one in-home interview.

This two-step no-cost exploration provides an opportunity for us to meet each other, ask each other questions, and begin a conversation together about immediate needs and possible goals.

  • My dedication to fostering deeper connections for individuals with dementia is a cornerstone in my consulting, and this is possible regardless of the disease stage. We’ll discuss your unique circumstances and build practical solutions together.

Consulting rates are by the hour. At no additional cost, a summary of each conversation is provided to you.

  • My approach to home care services begins with meeting people “where they are”. I approach each visit with curiosity and the flexibility to pivot from the day’s agenda, as necessary, to keep a person’s comfort and needs at the forefront. At any disease stage, quality of life can be greatly enhanced through creative interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, and the constancy of fundamental human regard.

Using a smooth Yes-And approach (instead of constant corrections, which can embarrass or rattle a person) fosters trust and respect over time, even as abilities decline, and is an important skill that I model for families.

  • My approach to residential care is similar to home care: meeting client’s “where they are”, and with creativity and curiosity. Yet my time working at residential communities in various roles has given me unique insight into those particular dynamics. Besides interacting with residents, I also offer to be a liaison between you, the primary caregiver, and staff.

Using a smooth Yes-And approach (instead of constant instruction, which can be upsetting) gently fosters trust and comfort over time, and is an important skill that can fortify the existing care systems in a residential setting.

  • In a time of nationwide staff shortages, good communication is often one of the things that suffers. I communicate well and in detail with residential communities, medical staff, home health, and home care companies, and make myself available to family members to answer questions and offer solutions.

My extensive experience in the field of aging enables me to tailor my support not only to families and their loved ones, but to their care team members as well, when it’s good for the resident.
